Founded by Rasim Qara as an AI-driven exploration of visual inheritance, Doppelgängers: Twenty Into One investigates how identity and memory transform through recursive image synthesis. For Sónar+D, the project takes twenty real photographs and merges them algorithmically across four generational stages, resulting in a single, final AI-generated image.

Throughout the process, visual traits shift, overlap, and dissolve under artificial intelligence, erasing individual identities while revealing emergent patterns and convergences. The installation operates as an interconnected system: original photographs, AI algorithms, generational transformations, and visual output interact seamlessly, ensuring that no single element dominates the evolving composition.

By tracing the evolution of photographic form through algorithmic reinterpretation, the project examines convergence, memory, and the transformation of human representation in the age of artificial intelligence. Visitors encounter a continuously unfolding dialogue between past images, AI processes, and the final synthesized portrait — a meditation on identity, transformation, and the co-creative potential of humans and machines.
